During QCR52C Literature Curriculum and Assessment Design, I

-
Examined the principles and practices of Literature assessment and curriculum design
-
Performed hands-on tasks relating to curriculum design, setting and marking written examinations, creating and assessing alternative forms of assessments and out-of-school learning journeys.
-
Engaged in critical reflective thinking about my teaching identities and practices in the context of my school experiences.

I did so through completing the following learning tasks:-

-
Assignment 1 - Setting a written examination for unseen poetry short answer questions (based on Imtiaz Dharker's "Tissue") and essay and passage-based questions for the drama set text component (Jean Tay's Boom).
-
Assignment 2 - As part of a group, created a formative assessment task based on transmediation, or translating Lee Tzu Pheng's "Singapore River" poem into a different medium (photography).
-
Assignment 3 - Researched an area of literature pedagogy, curriculum and/or assessment of interest. I chose to focus on the possibility of materialist approaches that incorporated
-
material culture studies
-
drama pedagogy
-
place-based literature (also known as spatial competencies and/or learning journeys) and the
-
circulation of texts in World Literature
On the whole, the module provided me with adequate, hands-on experience in exploring the range of possible Literature assessments, as well as setting assessments that are guided and appropriately pitched while also remaining open ended for creative and critical work.
